Client:

Explore the transformative stories from Analamandreky, Madagascar, highlighting our tree planting initiatives and their positive effects on local ecosystems.

The importance of reforestation in Madagascar cannot be overstated. Madagascar is rich with biodiversity, making it a megadiverse and one of the prime places to have forests to protect wildlife and mitigate climate change.

Despite this, due to human activities such as illegal logging of precious woods, production of charcoal, slash-and-burn agriculture, and organised anti-government forest arsonists. This has meant a 80% reduction in forest cover in Madagascar.

This has meant the people of Madagascar have made a pledge to cover Madagascar in forests. So much so they have pledged an ambitious goal of 60 million trees.

Our tree planting partners have worked closely with local communities and government to ensure the trees that are planted are monitored, protected and given the best chance to survive.

The results of tree planting in Madagascar is not only extremely beneficial for the environment but has a direct positive impact on the economic and social development. Communities have gone from living under developed and degraded areas to receiving a living wage whilst they work towards restoring their environment,

The reliable and consistent  employment of planting trees has transformed people's lives. Children are able to go to school and families can eat healthy meals. Microenterprises pop up throughout the communities, further improving the region’s economy.

Furthermore, to help boost community engagement in reforestation efforts, our tree planting partners have made it so a library, research centre, and guided tours are available for local students and the community.
